There are many ways to get involved and a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate most schedules. We welcome your ideas, skills, talent and most importantly your time. Parent volunteers are vital to school events - without your support we would not be able to offer our students a well-rounded educational experience. Your participation also gives you the opportunity to meet other parents/educators, have a voice in school programs & events and make a lasting impact on our school.
The Parents Association (PA) is structured as an organized set of committees, each with different goals and events to help enrich the school and community. You can serve in a leadership role as Co-Chair of a committee, participate as a committee member, volunteer at events, and/or serve as your child’s Class Parent. Committees include:
Athletic & Arts Fundraising Events
This committee puts on fundraising events for the students with an arts or sports/athletic focus. Events include Kid-A-Thon (29-Sep), the Ice Skating Social (2-Feb), and the Theater Arts Fundraiser (27-Apr).
This committee works on all aspects of the yearly spring auction, our largest fundraiser which will be on 10-Mar. This committee has responsibilities throughout the year.
Welcoming & Retention
This committee works with the SBS administration to bring new families to SBS, welcome them to the school upon acceptance and retain them as SBS families in the long-term. Committee members help with Open House tours (13-15 Nov), and serve as a resource for prospective families.
This committee puts on special events for the students to enrich student life including the Halloween Party (31-Oct), Breakfast with Santa & Christmas Dance (15-Dec), and grade specific events in the spring such as the Carnival, Kickball, Wacky Olympics/Field Day and the Middle School Dance.
Class Parent Liaison
This committee organizes the class parents and helps them communicate to the parent body. This committee is a resource for Class Parent questions and concerns.
A Class Parent serves as a liaison between the classroom teacher, the parents/guardians of the class and the Parents Association at large. The Class Parent also helps to foster community within their class by having regular interaction with the other parents such as proposing ways to connect such as play dates, coffees/cocktails or other family get-togethers appropriate to the class.
Church and School Connection & Alumni Relations
This committee’s goal is to create a connection between the school, church and SBS Alumni.
PA Volunteer Flex Team
The Parents Association, faculty and administration occasionally have short-term projects where parent volunteers are needed to help out at school for mailings, lunch duty coverage, library, special events, etc.
You can learn more about volunteer opportunities from the PA Volunteer Letter (attached here). If you would like to inquire and/or volunteer for any of the above committees, please email email@example.com
. You may also fill out the attached form, bring it to the office and someone from the PA will contact you.
