Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved and a variety of volunteer opportunities to accommodate most schedules. We welcome your ideas, skills, talent and most importantly, your time. Parent volunteers are vital to school events - without your support we would not be able to offer our students a well-rounded educational experience. Your participation also gives you the opportunity to meet other parents/educators, have a voice in school programs & events, and make a lasting impact on our school.

The Parents Association (PA) is structured as an organized set of committees, each with different goals and events to help enrich the school and community. You can serve in a leadership role as Co-Chair of a committee, participate as a committee member, volunteer at events, and/or serve as your child’s Class Parent. Committees include:

Gala Committee
This committee works on all aspects of the yearly spring gala, our largest in-person fundraiser. This committee has responsibilities throughout the year. See the Gala page for more details!

Welcoming & Retention
This committee works with the SBS administration to bring new families to SBS, welcome them to the school upon acceptance and retain them in the long-term. Committee members help with Open House tours and serve as a resource for prospective families.

Special Events
This committee puts on special events for the students in order to enrich student life, including the Halloween Party, Breakfast with Santa (Lower School) Christmas Party (Upper School), Field Day, Kid-A-Thon, Bingo Night, Paint Night, and the Ice Skating Social.

Class Parents
A Class Parent serves as a liaison between the classroom t  class by having regular interaction with the other parents, such as proposing ways to connect with one another (like play dates, coffees/cocktails or other “family”get-togethers appropriate for the class). The Class Parent may also assist the teacher in planning/organizing CLASS holiday parties throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation Committee
The goal of this committee is to ensure our beloved teachers feel appreciated and are recognized for their contributions and dedication to the students throughout the school year. Volunteers create distribute small monthly gifts to the teachers to show appreciation! This committee also executes our Teacher Appreciation Week in the spring.

Community Activities & Additional Fundraising
Creating relationships with neighborhood businesses and setting up promotion programs with 3rd party vendors such as Amazon Smile and One Hope, among others. Other PA fundraising activities include Uniform Sales, Fitness Fundraisers,  Box Tops, Community Partners & Internet Fundraising.
