5-1 ELA Assignments

Hi all! 

 

I wanted to check in after the 5th and 6th grade students worked hard to complete their ELA midterm exams earlier this week. As per SBS procedure, graded midterms will be distributed in class for review next week and then returned to me. Students will not be given the exams to keep.

 

After the review, I'm looking forward to diving into our new units. Next week, I will establish a routine in terms of grammar instruction and will engage in pre-reading activities before beginning our class novels. After that, the 5th graders will be doing a novel study of Wonder by R.J. Palacio, while the 6th graders will be reading The Giver. I am excited to read both texts with your children and to continue to watch them grow as passionate readers and writers. 

 

For the upcoming unit, I asked all students to get 3-ring binders to use going forward. If possible, it would be great if every student could bring a binder to school on Monday.

Also, I plan to attend the ice skating event at Wollman Rink tonight and hope to see you all there!
