Students - please use this weekend wisely

Good afternoon!

There are several assignments that have been posted to google classroom (Discovery Ed and ReadWorks) that have yet to be completed.

Be advised more lessons have been prepared and are on the way for the foreseeable future.  None of us want to see our students fall behind on their work.

Please reach out if needed!

Respectfully,
Mr. Soto

Progress Reports - 3/18

Please be advised progress reports will be prepared and distributed to students next week.

Several students have yet to complete their ReadWorks articles on Google Classroom.  Specifically, those assigned on March 2.

5th graders - quiz this Friday. Next week's assessments.

While we will have Elevate and will be attending mass this week, both will be in the morning.

We are wrapping up the basic information regarding the creation of the Constitution, as well as rights and responsibilities of citizens, in time for an exam this Friday.

3/18 = Quiz on the 1st 10 Amendments.  Students will be asked to identify the correct Amendment that is protecting the basic rights of citizens.

3/20 - Exam - content Articles of Confederation vs. Constitution, Federalism, Rights and responsibilities of citizens, Bill of Rights.

5th grade - both sets of notes are available on Google Classroom

Leaning towards a quiz on these notes this Thursday.  Multiple choice items and most likely a short, written response.

Federalism and the Articles of Confederation would be the topics.

Homework over the weekend

1.  Wrap up classwork/worksheets from yesterday.
2.  ReadWorks articles - complete all 4 on Google classroom.  Be mindful of the Publius and American Ideals article as it is the most challenging of the four.

With state exams around the corner, want to ensure the students get some more practice with reading material on a computer, answering questions, working with informational texts, making inferences etc. as we head onto March.

May God bless all of you and have a fantastic weekend!

UPDATE - 3/1 Had the chance to review what has been submitted thus far.  Made comments/recommendations and have allowed students too revise or even redo the articles they struggled with.

Quiz on notes taken this week - 2/28

The topics will be the Articles of Confederation and the Constitutional Convention.

Ash Wednesday Mass - 2/26

5th Grade will lead the 10 AM Mass at Blessed Sacrament!

Permission slips are due.

It has been assigned today 2/10.   Information has been distributed directly to students - please be on the lookout for this information.

2/24th - Idea/application for project is due, although students may do this prior to this date.

A permission slip for 1/28 is going home today

Hello everyone!

Please sign and return the permission slip for our journey to the Blessed Sacrament Theater (70th Street).  We will be enjoying a performance of Shakespeare tomorrow morning!
