In September 2019, School of the Blessed Sacrament opened a two-campus, one school model. The Lower School (preK 3 - 3rd Grade) is on W 70th in the current School of the Blessed Sacrament building and the Upper School (4th Grade - 8th Grade) moved to 456 W 52nd Street in the current Sacred Heart of Jesus School building.
While the school is named School of the Blessed Sacrament, we entered this new chapter in Catholic education on the west side of Manhattan standing on the shoulders of those who came before us both at SBS and SHJS.
With long and rich histories in Manhattan, The School of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart of Jesus School have each provided over a century of Catholic education to thousands of children. Celebrating diversity, strong ethical values, and a commitment to the development of individual academic potential, both schools aspire to educate and nurture the whole child.
Now, School of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart of Jesus look ahead to ensure a continued and secure future of educating students in the decades to come. By merging, we can capitalize on the individual strengths and combined advantages—and thereby offer enhanced opportunities to students and families, creating a model for success for Catholic schools in New York City and beyond.
In partnership with Katie Winter Architecture, and with a generous donation from The Barry Family Foundation we are reimagining learning spaces designed to serve students at every stage in their educational journeys.
