The Kid-A-Thon is the Parent Association’s annual Fall fitness and fundraising event. This year’s Kid-A-Thon will include students from the School of the Blessed Sacrament and Sacred Heart of Jesus School and will take place on September 28, 2018 (Rain Date, October 5, 2018). At the Kid-A-Thon, students enjoy a great morning of fitness and fun in Riverside Park. Each class will rotate through several fitness stations, such as tug-of-war, potato sack races, baseball, basketball, golf, lacrosse, martial arts, soccer and tennis, which are coached by parent volunteers and local sports sponsors. The Kid-A-Thon gives SBS and SHJS students a chance to connect and play outside with their classmates, while trying out new sports and activities.
The Kid-A-Thon is also the PA’s primary Fall fundraising event. In the same way participants in a typical walk-a-thon seek sponsors, SBS and SHJS students seek the support of family and friends for their participation in this annual fitness event. Our fundraising goal this year is $45,000! Funds raised by the Kid-A-Thon truly make a difference for both SBS and SHJS students and are typically used to purchase new athletic equipment, enhance the physical education and recess programs, as well as for capital improvements for both campuses.
A donation in any amount to the Kid-A-Thon is appreciated! Donations can be made by (i) cash, (ii) checks payable to “Blessed Sacrament PA” or (iii) online by credit card (follow the link to PayPal on the Kid-A-Thon’s website, sbskidathon.com). Every student will receive a fundraising Kid-A-Thon envelope. Please submit all cash and check donations in the Kid-A-Thon envelope or make your donation online by September 27, 2018. The School of the Blessed Sacrament Parent Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN: 46-3673429) making all donations to the Kid-A-Thon are tax deductible. Please encourage your family and friends to support this special event!
Last year, over 70% of SBS students collected Kid-A-Thon donations and we raised over $40,000! The class with the highest participation rate will win a classroom pizza party and the runner-up will win a dress down day! Please remember, no donation is too small, and all donations count towards class participation. Students that raise $50 or more for the Kid-A-Thon will be entered in a raffle. Prizes will also be awarded to (i) the student who raises the most money and (ii) the student who collects the most donations.
We welcome the participation of parent volunteers to help organize and set-up the event, and run fitness stations. Parent chaperones are also requested for each class to assist the students as they walk from the school to the field.
The Kid-A-Thon is a great event to kick off the school year, get kids active outside, raise necessary funds and boost school spirit!
