Bonjour, les parents:
I am delighted to be teaching French at School of the Blessed Sacrament for the 2018-2019 school year!
My teaching methodology is based on ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, https://www.actfl.org) guiding principles, core practices, and proficiency standards. Central to this methodology is student engagement through immersive strategies that trigger communication in the target language, cement comprehension, and establish a foundation for more complex learning. At the same time, students are exposed to diverse Francophone cultures. My overarching mission is to foster a love of learning the French language as well as an appreciation of the people who speak it throughout the world.
I strongly encourage you to visit my resource pages (see right-hand column of this page for links) for grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8, respectively, to access links to videos and online material organized by topic (e.g., greetings, numbers, alphabet, etc.). To maximize the value of what we learn in class, it is critical to reinforce the material with repeated exposure. You may find you are learning French along with your child as they review the material at home!
