Google slides for the Chinese Dynasties we have covered should be up momentarily

The achievements of the Han dynasty should some in particularly handy for 6-2 as they will be on their retreat tomorrow.  

6th grade upcoming assessments (week of 11/18)

There will be a quiz on Tuesday 11/19 concerning the QIn and Han dynasties.  Notes excellent place to study from.  (Completed.)
 
There will be an exam on the Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties on Thursday 11/21.   
Notes excellent place to study from.  Slides have also been posted.  

Report Cards & Conferences

11/20 - Report cards sent home.  
11/21 - Conferences (beginning at 4pm, ending at 7pm).
11/22 - Conferences (beginning at noon, ending at 3pm). 
 
Conferences will be held in Campbell Hall.  
 
You can sign up via signupgenius.com - and I see many families have already done so.

History of Halloween - 10 questions/packet

Please complete and submit by 11/12 - will be counted towards the 2nd quarter.  

Friendly reminder re: Halloween Costumes

Halloween costume guidelines:

  • Costumes may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, disabilities, gender, or individual at the school.

  • Costumes may not cause a disruption or distraction to the school program, i.e. no revealing costumes - bodysuits are not allowed

  • No weapons, toy weapons, or props replicating weapons are to be brought to school.

  • No costumes are allowed that would completely hide the identity of the student, i.e. gorilla suit, "Scream" character, no masks etc. 

  • Costumes must not impair a student's vision or movement.

  • Costumes may not show obscene materials or prohibited substances.

  • Please be mindful of the hemline.  If the costume is very short leggings are to be worn underneath.  On the contrary, please make sure it is not too long to avoid potential tripping on stairs.

  • Any face paint, hair color, nail polish etc. must be washed of and removed by the next day of school.

SS exam - 10/30.

Review sheet for written response given in class today.  In addition to familiarizing themselves with the names listed on the front of the sheet, students should work on completing the graphic organizer (question #2) which is on the back.  
 
A worksheet and outline were provided to students on Friday - which can also be used to prepare for Wednesday's exam.  

Social Studies Exam on the Indus Valley, Maurya and Gupta Empires

Target - Wednesday 10/30.  
 
2nd exam of quarter.

HW - brief worksheet (6-2)

Please answer the three questions on your worksheet this evening.  It is based off of our notes on the Indus River Valley.

Good morning everyone.  Progress reports were distributed last week.  We ask that they be signed and returned.  Thank you and have a wonderful day!

Exam - 10/16 - Wednesday for 6-1; Thursday 10/17 for 6-2.

This will focus on notes for Mesopotamia, the Phoenicians, and the Egyptians.  
 
Written response - compare/contrast Mesopotamia & Egypt.  Consider the following categories:  geography, government, class system, religion, record keeping, architecture.  
 
HW - both classes should complete the organizer given in class today.  Bring to class on Wednesday.    
 
 
  

Picture Day & Gym

Good morning!  
 
Students are to come to school in their school uniform for tomorrow's picture day.  Those who have gym, which includes my homeroom class 5-2, should pack their sneakers.
