Get Involved
How we work
The Parents Association aims to foster and enable an active, participating parent community. We are structured as an organized set of volunteer committees, each with different goals and events to help enrich the school and community. During the course of the school year, families are asked to volunteer to serve. You can serve in a leadership role as Co-Chair of a committee, participate as a committee member, serve as your child’s Class Parent, and/or volunteer at, or otherwise contribute to, PA events and activities. We know this commitment to the school will benefit every child and the overall Blessed Sacrament family. Participation also gives you the opportunity to meet other parents, educators, have a voice in PA programs & events, and make a lasting, meaningful impact on our school.
Parent volunteers are vital to school events - without your support we would not be able to offer our students a well-rounded experience. We welcome your ideas, skills, talent and most importantly, your time. We are excited for you to get involved!
SBS Parents Association Committees
Executive Team
The SBS PA Executive Team comprises two Co-Presidents, a Treasurer and a Secretary. These officers coordinate the work of all PA Committees and oversee the group of Class Parents, in consultation with school administration.
Kid-A-Thon
This committee works on all aspects of Kid-A-Thon, our fall fundraiser, and school-wide community event, where the entire student body, staff, and parents are invited to come together, in one place. The committee executes a morning of sponsored fun activities and stations hosted by both parent volunteers and community partners. See the Fundraising page for more details!
Spring Gala & Auction
This committee organizes our annual Spring Gala and Auction, our largest fundraiser. This committee is responsible for executing all aspects of the online Auction leading up to the Gala, as well as the Gala event and live auction. The Spring Gala is an adult-only event hosted at a venue with music, food and beverages. The committee is responsible for organizing a presentation for Administration and the PA Executive Board proposing the theme for the event. See the Fundraising page for more details!
Special Events
This committee organizes some of our most popular events of the school year. The team plans events to enrich student life, including the Halloween Party, A visit with Santa (Lower School), Christmas Party (Upper School), and assistance with School Field Day.
Teacher Appreciation
The goal of this committee is to ensure our beloved teachers and staff feel appreciated and recognized by the parent community for their dedication to the students throughout the school year. This team organizes and executes monthly gestures of appreciation at school, such as snack tables, chocolate / candy for Valentines, and breakfast with coffee. This committee also oversees the activities during the National Teacher Appreciation Week in May.
Community Activities
This committee organizes social and service events to bring SBS families together. Recent events have included Bingo Night, Paint Night, Family Yoga and the Ice Skating Social. Members of this committee also create relationships with neighborhood businesses for SBS discounts or opportunities for small-scale fundraising.
Uniform/Bake Sale
Each year, the PA hosts three (3) sales of gently used uniforms to benefit families and raise additional funds. In addition, two bake sales are hosted to promote our major fundraisers: Kid-A-Thon and the Spring Gala & Auction.
