Recommending that class reviews notes over the weekend

We are having a brief quiz on the Middle and Southern Colonies, as well as the third slide show - Thursday 11/21.

Report Cards & Conferences

11/20 - Report cards sent home.  
11/21 - Conferences (beginning at 4pm, ending at 7pm).
11/22 - Conferences (beginning at noon, ending at 3pm). 
 
Conferences will be held in Campbell Hall.

Friendly reminder re: Halloween Costumes

Halloween costume guidelines:

  • Costumes may not be demeaning to any ethnic group, race, religion, nationality, disabilities, gender, or individual at the school.

  • Costumes may not cause a disruption or distraction to the school program, i.e. no revealing costumes - bodysuits are not allowed

  • No weapons, toy weapons, or props replicating weapons are to be brought to school.

  • No costumes are allowed that would completely hide the identity of the student, i.e. gorilla suit, "Scream" character, no masks etc. 

  • Costumes must not impair a student's vision or movement.

  • Costumes may not show obscene materials or prohibited substances.

  • Please be mindful of the hemline.  If the costume is very short leggings are to be worn underneath.  On the contrary, please make sure it is not too long to avoid potential tripping on stairs.

  • Any face paint, hair color, nail polish etc. must be washed of and removed by the next day of school.

5th Grade SS exam - Wednesday 10/30

There is a review sheet for the written responses that is being sent home today.  Students will need to use their notes for completing a graphic organizer regarding the success of Jamestown/failure of Roanoke.  They should also look at their notes and textbook Chapter 3 Section 4 as they prepare to compare and contrast the reasons why England and France established their colonies in North America, and how that impacted their relationships with American Indians.

Please complete the Chapter 3 Section 3 worksheet distributed in class today if you did not turn it in to Mrs. Whitaker prior to dismissal.   
 
 

Trip to the Museum of Math - tomorrow 10/25.

Students should wear their gym uniforms - pack a snack and lunch.  We will be traveling to and from the museum via bus.  Looking forward to the day out!
